Goodbye!

You can tell me many times 
How sad it feels to bid goodbye
And follow a star that shines
And walk a path that can be sly
The thorns on the path may perish
Misgivings, the time will vanish
Unexampled life, you may cherish
Your enemies you will banish
A castle can be found
And a library can be owned
As a king you can be crowned
And you can achieve those goals rotund
But, can you ever figure out?
What it means to be a recipient
Of a goodbye that you avowed
Only if you were percipient
